Overlay Timeframe Highlight

The Overlay Timeframe Highlight visually highlights higher timeframe candles on a lower timeframe chart.

It allows traders to:

  • See higher timeframe structure without switching charts

  • Track high/low ranges of larger candles

  • Monitor volume or trade summaries

  • Mark higher timeframe targets

 

Settings

Chart Area

  • Horizontal – Draws highlights directly on the price chart.

  • Vertical – Displays vertically (if supported).

  • Panel selector – Selects which chart panel the overlay appears in.


General


Param type

Defines the timeframe type used for highlighting (e.g., Minute, Hour, Day).

Param 1

Specifies the primary timeframe value (e.g., 5-minute highlight).

Param 2

Optional secondary parameter used depending on selected timeframe type.


Color


Color based on delta

Changes highlight color dynamically based on order flow delta.

Color mode

Determines how the highlight color is applied (e.g., fading or solid behavior).

Std dev for coloring

Controls sensitivity when color is based on statistical deviation.

Up bar

Sets highlight color for bullish higher timeframe candles.

Down bar

Sets highlight color for bearish higher timeframe candles.


Plot


Enable

Turns the highlight overlay on or off.

Border width

Controls thickness of the candle border highlight.

Body opacity

Adjusts transparency of the candle body highlight.

Shadow opacity

Adjusts transparency of the candle wick highlight.

Show background

Fills the full background of the higher timeframe candle range.


Range Target


Target enabled

Enables high/low range projection lines from the higher timeframe candle.

High color / Low color

Sets colors of projected high and low lines.

Line width

Adjusts thickness of target lines.

Line style

Defines line appearance (solid, dash, etc.).

Extend line to left

Extends target lines backward across previous bars.

Show text

Displays label text on the target lines.

Text color

Sets label text color.

Text size

Controls label font size.


Summary


Enable Summary

Displays higher timeframe summary information on chart.

Volume Summary

Shows total volume for the highlighted candle.

Trade Summary

Displays trade-related metrics (if available).

Text Color

Sets summary text color.

Ask Color / Bid Color

Defines colors used for ask/bid values in summary.

Summary text size

Controls font size of summary data.

Summary to view

Defines how many higher timeframe candles are included in the summary display.


How It Works

  • Aggregates lower timeframe bars into higher timeframe segments.

  • Highlights each segment visually.

  • Optionally projects high/low targets and displays summary statistics.
